& Impact

These intentional areas have been selected from a wider group of goals adopted by the United Nations in order to provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. This pilot initiative of five of these 17 goals (known as the Sustainable Development Goals) align with the priorities set out in our new vision of being a global force for good with a Caribbean heart. We couldn’t be more excited to be on this journey with each and every one of you.

How Does

It Work?

01

Choose A Category

Select one of the five categories that you would like most impacted in your community. See examples of projects here. Note that projects nominated in Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados must meet additional conditions so as to meet Massy Foundation criteria.

02

Research Projects

Research ongoing projects in your community in need of support. Your portfolio is already engaged in impactful community projects — this is a great place to start! Ask your Massy community members if they have heard about any charitable organizations undertaking community projects.

When you have found a project, note:

  • The name of the corresponding organization.
  • The names of at least two projects that have already been completed by the organization.
  • The website and social media links for this organization.

03

Sustainable Ways Of Working

Food Security

Zero hunger

Food security is about ensuring that all people have access to nutritious food at all times that meets their needs for a healthy life. This goal aims to end world hunger, improve diets, and promote farming that respects people and the land.

EXAMPLE

A farming project that recycles material in order to allow for growing fruits and vegetables in a city environment.

Education

Quality education for all

This goal ensures that everyone — whether children, teenagers, or adults — can all have access to quality learning in order to improve their lives.

EXAMPLE

A project that promotes literacy for adults, or a project that teaches design thinking to children in order to help them approach problems in a thoughtful way.

Healthy Living

Promoting good health and well-being

This goal ensures that everyone, at all ages, is able to enjoy a healthy life and a feeling of well-being.

EXAMPLE

A project that funds care for children with cancer, and support for their families.

Small Business

Sustaining, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all

This goal is about ensuring that all people are employed in a way that helps them to better themselves and the world around them for future generations.

EXAMPLE

A project that helps migrants to learn skills in order to become successful entrepreneurs. Another example of a successful, Massy-funded project is NUDGE, which provides training and retail access to small, mindful businesses.

Sustainable Ways
Of Working

Resilient Infrastructure and promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization and innovation

This goal aims to build infrastructure (for example, buildings, road, power), in a way that contributes to development without harming people, the land, or future generations. It also aims to ensure that a country can innovate — that a country can come up with new ideas or technology to benefit its people and environment.

EXAMPLE

A project that promotes solar panel installation to power workplaces, or that employs innovative ways to deal with waste management.
