Refurbishing and revitalizing the play area will improve motor skills of the student’s by encouraging physical activity and providing equipment that promotes movement and coordination. Additionally, the enhanced play area will foster social interaction among students, helping them develop and strengthen interpersonal skills such as communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution through shared play experiences.
Carmen Rene’ Memorial School, located in Sans Soucis, Castries, is a primary school serving students from Grade K to Grade 6. BAPC seeks to provide the highest quality of care and compassion to those persons that are diagnosed as being in the terminal phases of illness.

It encompasses study marathons, mentorship programs, teen talent competitions, and training sessions, all geared toward empowering the future generation to become well-rounded assets to society. Introducing one not only ensures access to nutritious meals but also enhances the curriculum by engaging students in active purchasing and selling routines. Despite space limitations, careful planning at the board and city corporation levels has paved the way for this initiative. The proposed cafeteria, an 8×10 concrete structure with secure metal doors and sliding windows, will feature inner countertops for meal preparation, fridge, washing area, and storage. This addition promises to benefit students, parents, and staff alike, providing a conducive environment for healthy meals and social interaction. Every effort would be made to ensure that preparation of meals would be done to highest hygienic standards.

The Disability Employment Program Barbados (DEP) by BARNOD Inc. aims to enhance the hiring and retention of individuals with disabilities in the workforce. The project targets 25 unemployed males and females aged 18 to 40 who have completed some level of secondary education. These participants, who comprise 99% of BARNOD Inc.’s members, currently rely on government social services due to unemployment. The program will educate participants on their legal rights, customer service etiquette, productivity, and professionalism, as well as the distinctions between National Assistance and Social Security benefits. It also includes training on personal branding, entrepreneurial skills, appropriate business attire, and workplace attitudes. DEP Barbados addresses a pressing issue, as 90% of the estimated 14,000 people living with disabilities in Barbados are unemployed. By facilitating internships and sensitization workshops with collaborating employers, the project promotes an inclusive workforce and contributes to the economic growth of Barbados.

The Jamaica Autism Support Association (JASA) was established in 2006 by a group of Jamaican parents who recognized the need for support and advocacy after connecting with other parents at a U.S. treatment facility. Initially, they met to share information and provide mutual emotional support. In April 2006, the Rotary Club of Kingston, UNICEF, the Kingston YMCA, and the Early Childhood Commission held an Autism Workshop to educate parents and professionals and form a support group. JASA’s first official meeting was in 2007, and monthly meetings have been held since then at the Kingston YMCA. JASA aims to raise autism awareness, assist in research, and advocate for various supports, including tax relief, early screening, free healthcare and therapy services, subsidized education, and training. The primary beneficiaries of Adopt A Girl are adolescent girls aged 10 to 19, with a minimum of 250 girls benefiting annually. The Society was incorporated in 2011 as a Non-Profit Organization under the Companies Act 1995 and registered as a Non-Profit Society under the Non-Profit Organization Act No. 7 of 2019 to provide Palliative Care to medical personnel and other caregivers. This initiative was started by Mr. Saty Seemungal and Mrs. Chan Seemungal, with the assistance of their son David, after the Seemungals lost their daughter Trudy Ann Velanytham to lung cancer. Their primary goals are to transform the care available to persons with life-threatening illnesses and their families in Trinidad and Tobago through increased medical support, social support, and advocacy. They are also dedicated to improving training and education about palliative care.
The school’s library currently faces several challenges, including a leaking roof, termite infestation affecting the structure and shelves, and the need for new furniture and books. Sadly, the community’s library is also closed, leaving the children of Sturge Town, a beautiful and historic rural community (known as Jamaica’s second Free Village), without a dedicated reading center. The significance of reading in children’s development cannot be overstated, especially in today’s digital age where attention spans are diminishing. Revitalizing the school’s library is crucial to restore it as a central hub for the children of this low-income community. It will provide them with a vital resource for education, imagination, and personal growth, countering the trend of short videos and reinforcing the value of reading as a foundational skill.

The organization is bombarded daily with horrendous cases which require major rehabilitation in terms of medical care. Most of the dogs rescued have to undergo vast procedures including; amputation of limbs and chemotherapy. This means hospitalization at vet clinics for multiple dogs at a time. The Project itself is not a shelter with a physical location, all the animals in its care have to remain in boarding at clinics until homes are found. Most of the time there are over 30 dogs and pups in boarding which becomes a huge financial strain. The plan is to use the grant to offset some of the costs and help the organization continue its work of making a difference not only in the life of the animal but in the life of the special human who adopts it.
The Mustapha Project was founded in February 2014. It is a small animal rescue, non-profit organization attempting to be a voice for the voiceless in Trinidad & Tobago. The main aim of the Project is to give the “underdogs” a chance; meaning give the dogs that society deems unworthy a chance at having a happy ending. The majority of cases received by the organization deals with dogs and pups that are severely injured or sick and have been abandoned or abused. The animals are rescued, rehabilitated, spayed/neutered and then rehomed. During the 10 years the project has been in existence over 850 animals have been rescued across the country, with this number rising significantly as more and more animals are being dumped on a daily basis. The project also aims at educating the public on topics such as; the importance of spaying and neutering, the positive impact dogs have on mental and physical human health and the benefits of choosing to adopt rather than purchasing a dog or pup.

Technical Drawing students will also receive faster laptops or desktops for the AutoCAD program. It will encourage them to share their commitment to safe road culture with their peers and family and contribute to safer roadways in our communities and altogether, contribute to a reduction of deaths and accidents on the roadways .

The Autism Association of Barbados aims to establish a Life Skills and Resource Center in a building leased from the Government of Barbados. Extensive renovations, including new doors, flooring, windows, fencing, plumbing, electrical works, decorations, and cleaning, are needed. The center will offer practical workshops for individuals on the autism spectrum, focusing on basic life skills crucial for independence. These workshops target diverse demographics regardless of gender, education, income, or cultural background, benefiting teens, young adults, parents, caregivers, teachers, and the wider community. Specifically catering to individuals aged twelve and older, especially young adults and school leavers, the workshops aim to enhance social, employment, and life opportunities. With an estimated 4000-7000 individuals on the spectrum on the island, the center plans to serve 20-30 persons monthly, with focused life skills workshops accommodating 2-4 individuals on the spectrum four days weekly.

Its primary goal is to offer support and guidance to families and caregivers of individuals across the autism spectrum. As a voluntary organization, the AAB advocates for enhancements in educational, therapeutic, and employment opportunities for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Additionally, the association aims to raise public awareness about the challenges faced by individuals on the spectrum and their caregivers. It actively participates as a member of the Barbados Council of the Disabled (BCD) and boasts the largest membership among differently abled organizations under the BCD umbrella, with nearly one hundred families and other members involved in supporting individuals on the autism spectrum.
