The projects below received the greatest number of votes from our Massy employees in this region and will therefore proceed to the final stage for disbursing the grants. During this stage further criteria will be reviewed to assure regulatory adherence.
This project aims to assist students with dyslexia in recognizing their individual strengths, fostering self-confidence, and empowering them to thrive academically and personally.
The Caribbean Dyslexia Association is a registered charity in Barbados, founded on November 29, 1994. It serves as a special education institution specifically designed for children and adults with dyslexia. The organization’s teaching arm, known as the Caribbean Dyslexia Centre (CDC), was established on October 4, 1994 and has become a prominent educational resource in Barbados and the wider Caribbean region, leading the way in supporting individuals with dyslexia. The organization aims to provide a specialized and effective educational experience for those with dyslexic minds, allowing them to thrive academically and personally.

Early intervention and awareness make a difference, the support and tools provided by the centre and exposure to teachers who were trained in identifying his unique strengths built his confidence. Today he is in Sales with a strong future ahead of him.”
Jabez House is the only organisation of its kind in Barbados. The charity serves as a haven of hope for female sex workers, facilitating their transition process via access to alternative economic empowerment opportunities. Since its inception in July 2012, the organization has reached out to over 500 female sex workers, with scores of them leaving the trade and becoming self-sufficient apart from sex work.

BARNOD Inc. has shown commitment and dedication to improving the lives of persons with disabilities, especially through its educational programs. In advocating for inclusiveness, they have and continue to promote how persons with disabilities are integrated into the workforce, enhancing the core life skills and opportunities for the disabled community.
BARNOD INC. is the sole cross-disability organization in Barbados, operating as a non-profit, non-governmental group led by and for individuals with disabilities. Their mission is to enhance the lives of disabled people in Barbados, advocating for their rights and well-being.
“As a person with a disability who has benefited from similar programs, I wholeheartedly support BARNOD Inc.’s proposed educational initiatives for the disabled community, which I believe will help them gain a deeper understanding of themselves, boost their confidence, and give them the tools they need to become financially independent.”
As a result of this project, there is greater awareness to the ladies who suffer and it also allows the wider community in Barbados to get a better understanding of this illness.
The Katrina Endometriosis Fund Association is an NGO founded in 2016 whose main goal is to increase awareness about endometriosis, which affects 1 in 10 women. They aim to educate all teen girls and women about such gynaecological issues.
“We at Brandons Non Food Warehouse two years ago wanted to adopt an organisation that helps the less fortunate in making their lives better. We looked at a few, and then when we heard about this organisation and what it is doing to help women who suffer from this particular illness. We concluded that this group will be the one we will adopt.”
The overarching goal is to connect those affected by Alzheimer’s with the necessary information and support.
Barbados Alzheimers Association’s main objectives are to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s Disease and its effects on family life among the Barbadian public. They also focus on providing support services for individuals who are affected by the disease, aiming to enhance their well-being and quality of life.
